Provincetown can feel like a very expensive place and easily spark some money anxiety. However, there are ways to enjoy this beautiful town on a budget!

For the adventurous
Beech Forest
With free parking, bike trails, picnic tables and self-guided nature walks this enchanted forest will be fun for the whole family!
Cape Cod Provincelands Trail
This route is a bikers dream! Starting from the Province Lands Visitor Center this 5.25- mile trail gives you a tour of the dune system in the area as well as a trip through Beech Forest. The trail also includes turn offs to Herring Cove Beach, Race Point Beach and Bennet Pond. Just stop by Ptown Bikes (42 Bradford Street) for a low cost rental and then hit the trails!
Playgrounds
What kid (or kidult) doesn’t love swinging and sliding around? Check out the two playgrounds located in west end of town on Howland & Bradford or the east end at Nickerson and Bradford for a place to keep the kids entertained for hours, and tire them out too!
For the history buff
Old Harbor Life-Saving Station
On Thursday Evenings at 6pm you can step back in time and see a historical reenactment of the beach apparatus drill. The drill was performed by the crew of the US Lifesaving Service every Thursday at the turn of the 20th century. The program is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors and children 7- 17, and free for children under 6. Located at Race Point Beach.
Pilgrim Monument, Provincetown Museum
This monument was founded in 1892 to commemorate the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in the New World in Provincetown, in November 1620. Climb this 252-foot granite tower for breathtaking views of Cape Cod. Enjoy free admission every Wednesday evening from 5-7pm!
Race Point Light House
Built in 1816, it is a historic attraction you don’t want to miss! Free tours are offered every first and third Saturday of the month, so on your way out on August 5th swing by to learn more about what makes this lighthouse so cool.
For the ocean fanatic
Whale Week 2017
If you love whales or marine life in general then you’re in luck! The Center for Coastal studies is hosting whale week from July 30th to August 5th. They have lots of free and inexpensive activities such as a lecture, a marine discovery hour, a tide pool exploration, and whale games! Visit their website for more information.
Pools and Beaches
Grab your swimsuits and your favorite beach toys and head to one of the many public pools and beaches in Ptown! Some places you can check out are the Crown & Anchor, Surfside Inn, Harbor Hotel, and the Ptown Inn.
For a night out
Summer Concert Series @ Herring Cove Beach
Bring your own chairs or blankets to the free “Sunset Concerts on the Beach”! Enjoy the funky tunes of Funktapuss on Sunday, July 30th or the rockabilly, soul music of Sarah Swain on Wednesday, August 2nd at 6:30 pm.
Friday Night Gallery Stroll
After the family dance, what better way to spend your last night in p town than exploring all of the art galleries! On Friday nights the galleries stay open late for everyone to see what makes Ptown such an artistically vibrant place.
