Internship Opportunities

  • Spring 2013 Community Engagement & Programs Internship - Boston Office Interns play a hands-on role in all Family Equality Council community programs including The Outspoken Generation, The Breakthrough Conversation Project, Pearls of Wisdom, and Parent Groups.  This unpaid internship involves community outreach, development of new initiatives and educational resources to support LGBT families, event planning and execution, use of social media, etc. Application deadline is April 1st, but applications will be accepted until the position have all been filled.
  • Summer 2013 Communications/New Media Intern - DC Office The Communications/New Media Intern is an integral member of the Communications team.  This unpaid internship involves assistance with external communications and marketing efforts as well as research of and outreach to traditional mass media and social media outlets.  Success in this position requires highly developed organizational skills, the ability to problem solve independently, a team-oriented mindset, and excellent interpersonal skills. Application deadline is June 1st.
  • Summer 2013 Communications/Story Collection Intern - DC Office The stories from LGBT families offer us unique insights into the lives of the families we represent and provide us with strong arguments in favor of equality. This unpaid internship is structured around cataloging archival media (photos, videos, etc) and assisting in the creation and implementation of new systems to collect new stories and other information from LGBT families. Success in this position requires highly developed organizational skills, the ability to problem solve independently, a team-oriented mindset, and excellent interpersonal skills. Application deadline is June 1st.
  • Summer 2013 NY Development Internship The NY Development Intern will work closely to support the Deputy Director of Strategic Advancement. They will have an opportunity to learn about relationship development with donors, corporate sponsors, and other organizations. They will also have the opportunity to attend cocktail parties, corporate and other non-profit events. Success in this position requires great organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
