FAMILY EQUALITY COUNCIL UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE
Features and Functions Offer New Ways to Get Involved,
Get Informed, Get Connected
Washington, DC - (Jan. 25th, 2012) – The Family Equality Council, which connects, supports and represents the one million parents who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) and the two million children they are raising, today unveiled a newly constructed website at www.familyequality.org. The new site is being launched to coincide with this year’s 30th anniversary celebration of Family Equality Council.
The site, designed by Minneapolis based Clockwork Active Media (www.clockwork.net) offers an array of features and functions designed to offer users new ways to learn more about Family Equality Council, get involved with issues important to LGBT families and get connected to its growing community of parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren.
The newly-enhanced site features the following:
- Brand new community blog – The Family Room
- Advocacy center outlining policy work on the federal, state, and local levels.
- National searchable database of local parent groups for LGBT families.
- Equality Maps mapping the degree of family equality across the United States.
- Storytelling center highlighting the stories of real LGBT families.
- Parent resource center providing the tools and resources to build healthy families and communities
- News and Media listing the latest on the state of family equality.
Family Equality Council Director Jennifer Chrisler called the new site a demonstration of the group’s promise to cultivate deeper connections with families, supporters and allies during the 30th anniversary campaign.
“Our new website demonstrates our commitment to using cutting edge technology and design to build community and change hearts and minds,” said Chrisler “We are thrilled to offer this resource to the community and are committed to carving out a place for our families in the modern age.”
