Washington, DC, April 7, 2014- Family Equality Council®, the national organization which connects, supports, and represents the three million parents who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer in the United States and their six million children of all ages, is pleased to announce the hiring of Tatiana Quiroga for its newly created Southern Regional Manager position.
Tatiana is a native Floridian and has worked at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida since 2005, most recently as a Course Director. She has a wealth of experience including developing and delivering curriculum, building both external and internal collaborative relationships, and mentoring and supporting her local LGBTQ community.
“I strongly believe in the Family Equality Council’s mission of inclusion and community building,” Tatiana said. “I’m excited to combine my education as a Mental Health Counselor and extensive work experience as a manager, educator, public speaker, project leader, and advocate to help continue the amazing work the Family Equality Council is doing.”
Family Equality Council’s addition of the Southern Regional Manger staff position demonstrates the expansion of its work within the southern states and its commitment to helping families who face some of the worst discrimination in our country.
“In a part of the country where people value family so highly, our families still encounter immense inequality,” said Family Equality Council Executive Director, Gabriel Blau. “That’s why we’re broadening our truly groundbreaking southern work and are extremely excited to have Tatiana Quiroga join the team. We’re building community and we're building capacity from the ground up. We’re supporting the leaders already working in that region and identifying new leaders to develop the infrastructure necessary to win lived equality and help our families thrive.”
Tatiana Quiroga and her wife, Jen, and their son, Lukas, live in Orlando. She officially begins her tenure as Family Equality Council’s Southern Regional Manager today. For more information about Family Equality Council’s work, visit: http://www.familyequality.org
