Huckabee: a wolf clothed in sheep’s rhetoric

I came here today to discuss Huckabee. Lately, he’s made some
somewhat conciliatory comments about GBLT people and a lot of
evangelical Republican voters seem to be warming to the
sweet-talking, not-so-angry former Southern Baptist minister. I see
Dustin has a presidential open thread asking “who’d we vote for.”
Well, here is a post about who we _wouldn’t_ vote for. Who would be
the worst president for our families.Let’s run down some past
remarks of Huckabee’s about GLBT people:

Gay Marriage will Destroy Society

There’s never been a civilization that has rewritten
what marriage and family means and survived. So there is a sense in
which, you know, it’s one thing to say if people want to live a
different way, that’s their business. But when you want to redefine
what family means or what marriage means, then that’s an issue that
should require some serious and significant debate in the public
square.

Homosexuality
is like Necrophilia and Pedophilia
:

It is now difficult to keep track of the vast array of
publicly endorsed and institutionally supported aberrations—from
homosexuality and pedophilia to sadomasochism and
necrophilia.

AIDS
patients should be isolated

If the federal government is truly serious about doing
something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would
isolate the carriers of this plague.

Homosexuality
is an aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle

I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and
sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public
health risk.

Lastly, not a comment from Huckabee, but an
endorsement from the hate group
, The American Family
Association’s leader Donald Wildmon… ‘nuf said

I feel that Governor Huckabee understands the needs of
our country and has the ability to lead us in meeting those
needs

Huckabee has been sounding somewhat conciliatory and friendly
lately, but hasn’t specifically retracted most of these
statements. So which is worse, a man who has showed a long history
of animosity to our families over the years but now talks sweet
(Huckabee) or a man who has had a history of showing at least some
friendliness (if not actual friendliness) but now is pandering to
the anti-gay right (Giuliani and Romney less so)?Which candidate
would be worse for our families?
