Our Families – FRONT AND CENTER At the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll

This past Monday, we were proud to have our LGBT families attend
the annual White House Easter Egg Roll in Washington.

It has now become a tradition for our families to be included in
the event.

Family Equality Council first mobilized families to attend the
event in 2006 under former President George Bush.  The
groundbreaking event received unprecedented national attention from
the media and the public and represented the single largest example
of LGBT family visibility in American history.

In 2009, more than a hundred LGBT families attended having been
specifically encouraged to apply for tickets by the White
House.
This year the tradition continued and our families were again
welcomed warmly to the event. Thanks to our families’ willingness
to participate, we’ve made big strides in placing our families
front and center.
