Mr. President: Include LGBT Families in Immigration Reform

Today we got our first look at the Senate’s framework for comprehensive immigration reform. Unfortunately, the plan includes no mention of binational LGBT families. Since this plan has not yet been introduced as a bill, and the President is set to lay out his plan for Immigration Reform tomorrow, there is still time to make sure we are included

Will you help us insist that LGBT families be explicitly included in any immigration reform bill?

Here are 3 easy steps you can take:

Call the White House: President Obama will outline his plan for immigration plan tomorrow, at a speech in Las Vegas. While the President made a strong statement of support last week, we need to ensure he doesn’t forget us tomorrow.

Contact the White House by calling (202) 456-1111 and tell them, “The President’s support of LGBT immigrant families is important to me. When Mr. Obama speaks in Las Vegas tomorrow, he should specifically call for immigration reform that will keep binational gay families together.”

Call your Senators by dialing the Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121. Ask the operator to connect you with your Senator’s office. Then, tell them, “I’m calling as a constituent to ask that my Senator work for comprehensive immigration reform that includes the Uniting American Families Act.”

Repeat step 2 to send the same message to your other state Senator.

This is the time to make sure that comprerehensive immigration reform will benefit all families. It starts now, with you—all you need to do is pick up the phone.

Thank you for your support!
