Dakota Fine joined Family Equality in 2019 as the Video Producer/Storyteller, based out of Los Angeles, California. In this capacity, Dakota leads Family Equality’s storytelling work and helps guide the organization as it documents the stories of LGBTQ+ families and their allies.
Prior to joining Family Equality, Dakota was freelancing as director of photography at Vice News Tonight on HBO, director/producer of video projects at the Roberts Enterprise Development Fund, and director of photography at Goldenvoice/AEG Presents. Before relocating to Los Angeles in 2015, Dakota worked as a video journalist at the Washington Post. Dakota holds an MA in New Media Photojournalism from the Corcoran School at the George Washington University and has broad experience as a documentarian working both as a still photographer and cinematographer.
Born in San Francisco in the early 1980s, Dakota was raised by lesbian moms and first found COLAGE at the age of 12. Dakota has volunteered at Family Week in Provincetown six times and served on the COLAGE board of directors.
