Family Equality Launches Online LGBTQ+ Inclusive Workplaces Training for Human Resource Professionals and Employers

New York, NY —  Today Family Equality announced the launch of a new virtual training module to help employers to build welcoming and supportive workplaces for LGBTQ+ employees. Through three interactive chapters delivered online, business owners and human resource professionals will learn advanced concepts and concrete tools that can be implemented right away in their workplaces using videos, quizzes, articles, and downloadable resources.

“For decades, the world of LGBTQ+ family-building has been changing, but corporate culture and policies haven’t evolved as quickly. Using our experience supporting thousands of families across the country, Family Equality has created a training that has the potential to change LGBTQ+ workplace experiences for the better,” said Trystan Reese, Director of Family Formation at Family Equality. “Completing our Open Door training will increase workplace satisfaction for LGBTQ+ employees and will help employers and human resource professionals make meaningful changes that will increase their ability to recruit and retain top-notch talent.”

Beyond Diversity: LGBTQ+ Inclusion for Employers is the latest addition to Family Equality’s “Open Door” Professional Training Program, launched in 2019 to provide LGBTQ+ cultural competency training for family building professionals. To date, over 1,500 health care professionals from states across the country have completed Open Door training courses.

The training released today includes bonus videos featuring interviews with the Netflix human resources team, who share the story of how they built the “gold standard” of family-building policies. Learners will also hear from Leah Benson, the owner of a bike shop in Portland, OR, who outlines how small businesses can create innovative benefits packages on tight budgets.

“The landscape of LGBTQ+ family-building has been changing but companies haven’t always kept up. It’s important for companies to implement policies and benefits that will truly support all employees on their many paths to parenthood,” said Lisa Greenbaum, Chief Client Officer at Progyny, a leading fertility benefits management company in the US, and beta tester for the new training released today.

Family Equality will be offering this employer module to its existing national corporate sponsors, in addition to any other organizations that are interested in its curriculum. To learn more or sign up for an Open Door training membership, visit https://training.familyequality.org
