Family Equality Council Offers Family Friendly Events for LGBTQ Parents and their Families During the 2014 Austin Pride Weekend

Washington DC- Family Equality Council is set to partner with the Austin community again this year during Austin Pride Weekend (Sept. 18- 21), in creating additional family-friendly spaces where parents and prospective parents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, along with their children and other allies, can celebrate, make new connections, and be part of the equality movement.

“Equality is rapidly on the march across the country, including in states like Texas,” said Family Equality Council Southern Regional Manager, Tatiana Quiroga. “But LGBTQ families still face unique challenges under the current patchwork of laws that exist. Our ‘Family Weekend in the Southwest’ events offer LGBTQ families the chance to gather, build community, share their unique stories, hear from equality experts, and gain valuable information on the issues most pressing to our families. We’re thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to families again this year.”
