Family Equality’s Statement on Joe Biden’s Election

In response to major media outlets projecting the historic election of President-Elect, Joseph R. Biden, Denise Brogan-Kator, Chief Policy Officer and CEO (Interim) of Family Equality released the following statement:

“In this pivotal moment, Family Equality stands ready to work with the Biden Administration to achieve lived and legal equality for LGBTQ+ families nationwide, as we have with every Administration over the course of our forty-year history.

“Over the past four years, the LGBTQ+ community has seen a heart-wrenching rollback of rights and protections, despite broad cultural shifts in public opinion. And just this week, the Supreme Court heard a case that could determine whether or not taxpayer-funded agencies can turn away qualified parents for being LGBTQ+.

“Family Equality—and the Biden Administration—have a lot of work to do to remedy the harms inflicted on our community and usher in an era of progress towards LGBTQ+ equality. That’s why today, and every day, we will continue to represent and elevate the voices of LGBTQ+ families in Washington, D.C.”
