I’m deeply moved by Obama’s response, and while I’m still stinging by the overall sexism in the primary campaign, which I fully believe led to Hillary’s loss, as a lesbian and a mom, I am pleased to see where Obama stands. It makes Hillary’s loss a bit less difficult.

It is very odd to read this entry and have the banner button (with link) to the McCain campaign website at the bottom of the article.

Awesome work Jennifer and Family Equality Team. Pretty impressive that you have the next President of The United States Of America responding thoughtfully to your question/concern. I’m sure you behind the scenes outreach to the O’bama campaign was very impactful.

Thanks for the great work you are doing!

Anne

Sen. McCain,

Let me tell you about my “unsuccessful” family….

My beautiful wife and I are bio-moms to 3 children and this year alone opened our home to 16 foster children. Drug affected babies, children on incarcerated parents, children who have been seriously neglected and abused… all the product of straight relationships/marriages… and all welcomed into, healed and loved by our “unsuccessful” family.

By the way, I teach Middle School teacher in a community of poverty and teach Sunday School too!

And yet with all this service, I am a second class American Sen. McCain.

This proud American mom won’t be voting for you, McCain!

Obama all the way!

Great article and nice going Obama.

But I have to agree with another commenter that the google ads on the right that go to ultra right wing sites because the words John McCain appear in the text should really be reconsidered. Obama’s name appears but the ads don’t show any left leaning sites. Hmmmm. The ads are offensive and the ad search needs to be tweaked.

I certainly feel sorry for the children raised in these Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender so called Families. These children’s confusion about what a normal relationship is to be will plague them for the rest of their lives. This is a terrible thing to do to a child and is in itself another perverse form of child abuse.

Wow!
Obama’s letter to Jenifer has made me want to become an active Obama supporter.
It would be great if you could put a link to his campaign sight from the the emaill with his letter, so that he can trace the impact.

Thanks for all you do.

Words of Obama are just words, Gays have been banned from the Democratic National Committee Party Builder. Obama Supporters and two moderators allowed horrific gay bashing, and then bashed the gays from the site. Actions speck louder than words.

He is a politician, and probably someone else wrote the letter to get votees. In real life, he as head of the Democratic National Committee has allowed horrific discrimination, from bashing women, bashing Jews, bashing gays. Dont believe everything you read.

And, I have been a Democrat for 30 years. It saddens me to see such hate coming from the Obama Campaign. Please Read the the Light Brigade newsletter. These are a group of gays, women and Jews that have spoken out about discrimination. They have been banned from the Party Builder Site. http://www.thelightbrigadepost.com/ Read all the pages, and see the horrific posts by the Obama Army.

Not even a week after the president election the blond topblogger from Sweden, Linda Ekholm speaks out loud about Obama!
And I really believe this is truly written by heart. Scary!

[…] Senator Obama replied: “…We also have to do more to support and strengthen LGBT families. Because equality in relationship, family, and adoption rights is not some abstract principle; it’s about whether millions of LGBT Americans can finally live lives marked by dignity and freedom. That’s why we have to repeal laws like the Defense of Marriage Act. That’s why we have to eliminate discrimination against LGBT families. And that’s why we have to extend equal treatment in our family and adoption laws.” To read Obama’s full response, click here. […]
